Breast Reconstruction in Draper, UT

Implant-based breast reconstruction with fat grafting is a surgical procedure performed at Maglic Plastic Surgery to restore the breasts to a more normal shape and size after a mastectomy or lumpectomy. It can also be used to restore breasts damaged by birth defects or injuries. Advances in breast reconstruction surgery make it possible for breast cancer patients to feel complete and attain breasts that look natural after they have been removed. This surgery may be done at the beginning of your cancer treatment or sometime later. Plastic surgeon Dr. Dino Maglic takes pride in working with patients to create custom-tailored surgical plans backed by his expertise and compassion. Take the first step to restore your confidence and self-image by reaching out to Maglic Plastic Surgery in Draper, UT.

At Maglic Plastic Surgery, we offer an approach to breast reconstruction that combines implants with fat grafting for a more natural look and feel. To start, Dr. Maglic will extract unwanted fat from another area of your body using our facility's state-of-the-art VASER® liposuction device, which breaks up fatty deposits under the skin using gentle (but powerful) ultrasound energy. Once the fat tissues have been broken up, they'll be extracted using a hollow tube called a cannula. After that, we'll place the fat sample into a high-speed centrifuge, which will separate out the elements we don't need. During your procedure, Dr. Maglic will make incisions in your chest to insert the selected implants. Once they're in place, the extracted fat from your body will be injected back into the breasts to fill out areas and create a more natural appearance.

Patients come to Maglic Plastic Surgery seeking breast reconstruction for a number of reasons. Regardless of why you need or want this surgery, Dr. Maglic and our team will help you achieve the results you want. The benefits of breast reconstruction at our Draper, UT practice include:

  • Correcting concerns from past surgeries
  • Addressing aesthetic and medical issues alike
  • Improving self-esteem
  • More symmetry in the chest
  • Uses fat grafting to produce results that look and feel more natural than implants alone
  • High chance of success, few side effects, and lasting results

Breast reconstruction is a highly personalized procedure. Every patient will have a thorough consultation appointment with Dr. Maglic to create their treatment plan based on their needs, concerns, and appropriate options. If you are considering reconstructive surgery, you must have realistic expectations. While Dr. Maglic strives to give you an attractive, natural appearance, your newly reconstructed breast(s) may not have the same sensations, look, or feel as your original breast(s). This life-changing procedure can help reduce the emotional and physical burden of breast removal while empowering you to reclaim your self-confidence and figure. If you have breast cancer, have had trauma to the chest, or were born with a condition affecting the appearance of your breasts, we invite you to call our Draper, UT practice to schedule a personalized consultation with Dr. Maglic.

JJ Office Visit

I cannot say enough of my experience with Dr Maglic. I sought him out after my breast cancer related mastectomy and exchange surgeries, with another surgeon, left me feeling quite unsatisfied with my results. Being a women's health provider myself, I met with a half dozen plastic surgeons in 3 states and Dr. Maglic was the most caring and meticulous plastic surgeon I found. He made no false promises. My case was tricky with a unilateral mastectomy and other details to consider. I am WOW'd by the results. Truly, impressed with not just the results but with Dr. Maglic's attention to detail before, during and after surgery. The ease at which I can reach out to have questions answered or concerns addressed is far superior to other doctors offices. If you are a breast cancer survivor, please please know that you can be happy with your provider and your body. In fact, you deserve it. Dr. Maglic is amazing!

How much does breast reconstruction surgery cost?

Breast reconstruction is a complex surgery. To get great results, we encourage you to focus on selecting a plastic surgeon who has years of training and experience like Dr. Maglic over the cheapest price. At your initial consultation, Dr. Maglic will take time to understand your concerns and cosmetic goals before crafting your personal treatment plan. Once this is done, he can discuss cost estimates, options for payment, and where to find low-interest financing.

Will insurance cover breast reconstruction surgery?

The Women's Health and Cancer Rights Act (WHCRA) of 1998 requires insurance policies that cover mastectomies to also cover breast reconstruction surgery. If you have health insurance, one of our team members at Maglic Plastic Surgery will help you understand your coverage. We will also assist you with getting any needed information to your insurance.

What about nipple reconstruction?

Reconstruction of the nipple-areola complex is typically done with cosmetic tattooing. If you are interested in having your nipple-areola complex tattooed onto your reconstructed breast(s), you should tell Dr. Maglic during your consultation. He will explain your options to help you decide whether you want 3D tattooing of the nipple and areola to to be included in your surgical plan.

Should I have reconstruction with my mastectomy or wait?

The timing of your breast reconstruction is based on several things. Some patients decide to have their breast(s) reconstructed at the same time as their mastectomy, while others prefer to wait. Dr. Maglic suggests you schedule an appointment for a consultation following your cancer diagnosis so you can begin considering your options and when you want to have reconstruction surgery. If you decide to have reconstruction at the same time as your breast cancer treatment, Dr. Maglic can work with your oncology team to plan your surgery.
